Worth Noting Issue 06
04.14.24: Three fabulous home tours, delicious salad recipes, a chef with a very "Nancy Meyers" aesthetic, my new favorite coffee table book and more.
Quite frankly, it’s been a whirlwind of a week! So this newsletter is coming at you a bit later than usual, but a good evening read nonetheless. I’m finally feeling much more settled in after making the long drive back from Florida last weekend. It was so nice to step back into my apartment after three weeks away. Being welcomed back by the most beautiful weather was also quite wonderful. There’s nothing I love more than the pleasant shift from winter to spring.
A layer of green has blanketed the city and beautiful flowers are blooming everywhere, and I’ve had the windows open all week to the most perfect breeze and birdsongs. It’s amazing what a solid dose of warmth and sunshine can do for you. It all has me very ready and inspired to hop back into sharing my usual content over on Instagram. Springs arrival means I’m fervently craving fresh flowers, new recipes, garden tours, entertaining, and frolicking around my favorite neighborhoods. I just love this time of year! Ok, let’s dive in. This email may be a bit long, click to expand if prompted below.
Each month, I share 10 things bringing me joy, from creatives I’m following, good reads, what to watch, and other beautiful things worth noting.
01. Starting off with a bit of a self-plug, but I keep referring back to my list of cinematic treasures—springtime always has me in the mood for a romantic period piece. For those that may have subscribed more recently, I have a curated list of over 100 cozy movies with beautiful sets to sink into—so many good options if you’re ever trying to decide what you’re in the mood for. Enjoy!
02. I’ve been following Melissa for several years now and am always in awe of her work. There’s something so very Nancy Meyers about her content and her food styling is inspiring. Such easy, breezy videos, delicious recipes, and some wanderlust in between. Her adventures in Italy and her pasta content are among my favorites. A very good follow on both TikTok and Instagram.
03. I could never leave you without some home tours! I’ve been saving this one to share, but also for a future home one day. I’ve fallen in love with the idea of a kitchen that doesn’t feel like a kitchen at all, and architect Paul Bates does it right. His Alabama home is a dream! The kitchen alone is what really sealed the deal for me. The coziest, most inviting little space.
04. Has anyone else been watching Palm Royale? It’s been a while since a show had me really drooling over outfits and interiors. The story is fun and frivolous, but I just cannot get enough of the styling!!! Everything and everyone is absolutely fabulous in this show. Highly recommend if you love a blend of high-stakes drama and character dynamics set against the backdrop of a luxurious Palm Beach resort—what’s not to love?
05. I recently discovered several new antique shops through Instagram that I’ve enjoyed following along (to browse or to inspire future finds)… Béton Brut, Ponytail, The Diarist, Molly Solich Studio, and Curio Shop.
06. Salad season is indeed upon us. And I have several options bookmarked to indulge in this spring/summer. I love nothing more than a fresh, crunchy bite of a deliciously loaded salad. First up, this week is a steak chimichurri dense bean salad. Yum. And definitely planning to make this brussel caesar and this chopped option.
07. Stephen Sill’s New York apartment was recently featured in House & Garden and the details are absolutely insane. Between the architectural elements, his collection of art, and eclectic mix of traditional and modern pieces, it’s such a little dream. I’ve also long-admired Nigel Slater’s Georgian home in London which was recently featured in World of Interiors. Such simple, but stunning details and a moodiness I love.
08. This video came across my TikTok and I love the way (this other) Natalie styled her vest with brooches to make it look like an expensive Schiaparelli top. I recently snagged this big snail brooch from Zara and am on the hunt for some other chic options, like this silver swirl or this one, and a sunburst option. Such a thoughtful way to bring a bit more personality to an outfit.
09. “Trad wife” content has been trending online lately and it’s opened up such interesting conversations around domestic women and a subtle shift back to more traditional times. So naturally, the title of this New Yorker article caught my eye— The Rise and Fall of the Trad Wife.
10. I recently purchased The Private House, a brilliant coffee table book by Rose Tarlow that was recently republished in its entirety (originally published in 2001). It may be my favorite coffee table book to date. Her interior design work is absolutely stunning. If you love my style, you’ll love this book. Filled with endless inspiration. Take a look inside here.
xx,
Natalie
